I loved reading Knox's perspective and understanding his feelings about being responsible for the ranch while his siblings went on to lead exciting lives. He feels nice, safe, and old, but when Kelsey comes into his life with all her trauma and vulnerability, he is exactly what she needs, and he feels good about that. It was interesting to see the dichotomy in Kelsey's persona- the vibrant country singer who can hold a crowd in the palm of her hand, and the frightened victim who is just trying to hold it together for one more day. She drew out the hero in Knox, and he helped her feel protected and cherished for who she really is. They had great chemistry and the author did a fantastic job of showing them falling in love amid the turmoil in their lives. I loved the peace of the ranch and the way it calmed Kelsey, allowing her to realize the Lord's hand at work in her life. The pace is steady and quickens with each element of danger the characters face. Part of the story is shown from the perspective of Tate and Glo, and I'm excited for their story and the continuation of the suspenseful plot! All five books in the series are being released this year and I appreciate that we won't have long to wait between each book! (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)

While I enjoyed Knox more than some of Warren’s previous books, I can’t say it was my new favorite. Knox and Kelsey are both very intriguing characters with their own demons they’re fighting. Plot-wise, it felt very slow and honestly, Tate stared more in Knox’s own book than Knox did. The romance happened very fast, and from that standpoint wasn’t super believable to me. Not a lot of action happened, and the suspense was pretty minimal for a romantic suspense book. It was more romance than suspense for sure. I did enjoy the family aspect of the book, and my favorite scenes were when the entire family was back home. All in all, I can’t say I am a huge fan, but nonetheless, I am interested to read Tate’s book. (That cliffhanger preview was killer!) 'He gave a low chuckle and she could feast on it every day of her life.' Susan May Warren gave us the Christiansens several years ago and now she gives us the Marshalls. I love her family series! Oh, I love everything she writes, actually. Knox Marshall wears cowboy like a second skin. Knox Marshall wears cowboy like a second skin. Once a professional bull rider, now running the family's ranch, raising championship bulls, Knox is steady, strong and safe. Knox is a true hero, too. He cares about those he loves and will always be there for them. Always. When he meets Kelsey Jones at a rodeo event, she is on stage singing with her group, the Yankee Belles. But Kelsey is hiding some serious pain and anxiety. Surviving a vicious attack as a young teen, Kelsey is pretty much miserable with her life. But Knox sees this and wants to help. After an explosion in the arena, he takes her back to the family ranch to keep her safe, but trouble follows them. Knox has already lost his heart to Kelsey, and hopes she will accept it. Kelsey is so full of hurt and is hopeful, but life is full of heartbreaks and she just doesn't feel her life will ever be peaceful. Come along as Warren takes her readers on a ride that is sure to get your blood pumping. These Marshalls have already found a place in my heart. We not only get to know Knox here, but Tate plays a major role, too, and I can't wait to read his story. And there are five books in this series!! Wow. I wish I had them all right now. Susan May Warren is a forever favorite of mine and her books always have pride of place on my shelf. She not only tells an exceptional story, but she also includes great spiritual truths. Top notch! Highly recommended. *My thanks to the publisher and author for a preview copy of this book. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I’m walking around with a book coma. Do you know what I mean? It’s where you’ve just read a book and you can’t seem to get it out of your head. Where the characters are so real you wonder what they are doing now and what will happen in the future. In this new series by Susan May Warren, that is exactly what is happening to me right now! WOW! I wish I could meet this very larger than life family from Montana. I think I’d love to have them as friends. I’d also enjoy riding around the homestead and I’m walking around with a book coma. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I'm at a loss to have words eloquent enough to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warrens' books. She does this all in such a way where you as a reader, are drawn in and can't let go until the end. She uses action and suspense, drama and romance to woo the reader in. Her words touch the very center of your soul and hold you there. I was held there and couldn’t put the book down until I finished it, BUT then I wanted MORE! I truly can’t wait for the next book in the series, where I’m sure there will be tons of action, suspense, and romance, as we continue to get to know the Marshall family members. Whatever Ms. Warren writes I'll read because I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a way that is life-changing. I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review, all opinions are my own.

What a great start to a new series! I loved the combination of romance and suspense that was woven throughout the book. I loved getting to see characters that I knew from previous books make small appearances in this novel. But, not to worry. If someone had not read the other series, they would still follow the storyline of Knox just fine, as these character glimpses are not dependant on a great knowledge of past books and situations and simply provide a little treat to readers who have enjoyed other books by this author. I am anxiously looking forward to reading the next novel in this series! You can read this review on my blog: https://brittreadsfiction.wordpress.c...

So Good!! I have been anxiously awaiting this book! I'm so excited to have a new book and a new series by Susan May Warren. She really knows how to weave a story full of all the good things I crave in a story. Engaging characters with depth and personality, excellent forward momentum, chemistry and romance! I wish I had the next book to read right now because ooh la! The ending was also the beginning and I am already invested in characters. Bring on Tate!!

Getting sucked in by the first few pages is one thing, but not many authors can maintain that hold through each and every page that follows like Susan May Warren can, making it really hard to get anything else done once you’ve started reading. Then there are her characters. They’re each so real and unique. Cowboys are pretty popular romantic leads, but I guarantee you won’t find another one like Knox. Which is kind of a shame, come to think of it, because he’s now up there on my list of favourites. Yeah, he’s got swoony factor, but it’s the quiet, hardworking, down-to-earth, a-little-bit-insecure but I’m-your-safe-place kind of swoony factor. Melt. My. Heart. And Kesley was the perfect heroine to draw Knox out and push him past the things that have been holding him back. The suspense kept me guessing right to the end too—not in a “whodunnit” sense, but in a “what’s going on” sense. And as always, Susan May Warren manages to challenge her characters spiritually as well—as if they don’t already have plenty on their plate! In other words, you get the full package: Fantastic characters, swoony romance (with substance), riveting suspense, and spiritual growth. And the ending has left me chafing at the bit for Tate’s story. Bring it on! I received a copy of this novel from the author. This has not influenced the content of my review, which is my honest and unbiased opinion.

My thoughts: KNOX is the first book in Ms. Warren's riveting new series. It didn't end with a deep sigh, it ended with "What? When is the next book coming out?" There were plenty of twists, some former characters making a reappearance, and lots of drama and swoony kisses, all adding up to a book you shouldn't pick up if you are on a work related deadline. Or at bedtime. The faith message is strong too, though I did wonder about personal relationships with God, and it ministered to me at times. Okay, for the more conservative crowd, there is beer drinking and country dancing. Short-shorts and a few other things. And I cannot wait to read Tate and Glo's story. Also, the references to music, TV westerns, and pop culture (hello, Kevin Costner and Bodyguard) were wonderfully incorporated into the story and just plain fun. She weaves a story, shows vulnerability, character growth, romance, and even suspense. There's a little bit of something for everyone in this story. I do have to touch on Kelsey's character for a moment. She may have tried to act strong, but on the inside here is a girl who just needed to be loved the right way, and protected. Don't we all want that at some point in our lives!? She was scared, and she proved this theory over and over again in this story. I'm not going to lie, at times I just wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up and stop running. But I get it, I probably would have done the same in her situation. And isn't that what a good author does? Make you feel what the character does, and question how you would have handled a situation? Warren makes me do that with every single book I read of hers! I think this just might be my favorite Warren book! That being said, I cannot wait to see what other wonderful stories and heroes we will see in this series. Great beginning to a great brand new series by Susan May Warren! Knox is one of four brothers of the Marshall family from Montana. Knox is a cowboy who is the one who was left to care for the families ranch. He meets the girl who brings him to life but he will have to keep her safe from someone from her past who is intent on killing her. Nonstop action, suspense, and intrigue kept me turning page after page until I finished reading it! Can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Fans of Susan May Warren will be satisfied. Those who've never read Susan May Warren will become fans quickly after reading this book. Set in beautiful present-day Montana, we meet the Marshall family as the story unfolds to reveal Knox and Tate. Knox is the second oldest in the family of six and he's the only one who stayed on the family ranch to continue the legacy. He's noble, loyal, protective, tender, and smart though suffers from inferiority complex when he compares himself to his siblings. Kelsey is a rising country singer who has a dark and painful past; she tries to stuff down her vulnerable, tender, loving heart by being on stage and making her career her one and only goal in life. Her best friend and fellow band member Glo and Knox's younger brother Tate, who is hired as their bodyguard, bring Kelsey and Knox together in a whirlwind of rodeos, country music concerts, and danger trailing their every step. The author has a way of pulling you right into the heart of the story from page one and not letting go until the entire series is finished. I'm so looking forward to Tate's story, as well as the other four siblings' stories! DYNAMIC! KNOX is a DYNAMIC start for Susan May Warren’s new Montana Marshalls Series! I have always been drawn to “Real Men” because of the influence of my Daddy, my Great-Uncle Johnny & their best friend Clay. They were men of the Greatest Generation - all WWII Vets, Navy, Army & Marine respectively. As I read Warren’s description of Knox, I couldn’t help but think of these three men. Her characters are believable and relatable. Her beautiful descriptions of setting make you want to visit all the places she describes. Her plot is dramatic and will keep you distracted from everything else you’re supposed to be doing! One of my favorite quotes is this: “We’re all wounded, Kelsey. But it’s our wounds that allow us to have compassion for each other. It’s how God shows us He loves us too—through the way we reach out and hold on to each other.”

Wow, what an incredible start to the Montana Marshall series! I am going through Marshall family withdrawal right now and can't wait until July when book #2 in the series comes out. It was that good! Readers will fall in love with the Marshall family and not want the story to end. Knox is the dependable, hardworking sibling who always tries to do the right thing. His brother Tate, is charismatic, confident, and knows how to charm the ladies. For fans of Becky Wade's Porter family series, Knox re Wow, what an incredible start to the Montana Marshall series! For fans of Becky Wade's Porter family series, Knox reminds me of Bo Porter, and Tate reminds me of Ty Porter (my favorite Porter sibling), so of course I fell in love with the character of Tate, but Knox is pretty amazing too! Both Knox and Tate had starring roles in this novel filled with suspense, danger, lots of romance, and of course, handsome cowboys. The other Marshall siblings played supporting roles, but they will have their own stories play out in the rest of the series. There is an overall story arc that will follow through the entire series, but each book will take place right after the previous one and will have its individual storyline as well. I definitely recommend reading this book, so readers can be ready for Tate's story in July! It can't come soon enough for me!!

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series! I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. It's my favorite of hers yet, the best book I've read this year. What a breathtaking start to the series! I highly, highly recommend it!

Knox : The Montana Marshalls #1 By: Susan May Warren Knox is book one of a brand new series in The Montana Marshalls. The story is wonderful and the characters are realistic. There were times when I was laughing and other times I had tears in my eyes. This is Knox’s story, and what a story. A Marshall, cowboy, once a bull rider, and running the family ranch. Knox is the first installment in Susan May Warren's Montana Marshalls series. Having read other novels by Susan May Warren, I had some expectations – romance, danger, suspense, and a good story. I'm happy to say that Knox did not disappoint. The plot pace was perfect. Thanks to the action, mystery, romance, and suspense, the story held my attention and never dragged. I really liked how Knox was part of Kelsey finding healing from her past. Thanks to the action, mystery, romance, and suspense, the story held my attention and never dragged. I really liked how Knox was part of Kelsey finding healing from her past. He wasn't the full solution to Kelsey's issues, but he provided a safe space for healing to begin and pointed her to God, the ultimate Healer. The Marshall family responded to Kelsey and her pain in a healthy, supportive way that I admired. There was plenty of good character development. As Kelsey and Knox grew individually and as a couple, they drew each other out of where they were and into better, though perhaps less predictable, places. I recommend Knox by Susan May Warren to readers looking for story with romance and suspense. If you read and liked the author's Montana Rescue series, I think you'll find Knox to be a very enjoyable read. 4.5 Stars! Lastly, I have to give a warning that Kelsey is the victim of a physical and sexual assault. I thought the author handled it with sensitivity. However, I recognize that this book has enough content (because a lot of it is about Kelsey's journey to healing) that it might be a trigger for some victims. Oh, how I love Susan May Warren's heroes! They're never perfect, but they're always wonderful. Knox introduces readers to the Marshall family, brothers Knox and Tate in particular. While I wasn't as instantly into the novel as I normally am with Warren's novels, by about the 25% mark, I was completely hooked and read the rest of the book in one sitting. I love Knox so much! I also enjoyed the secondary love story (that's really just beginning) involving Tate and Kelsey's bandmate Glo, and I'm looking forward to watching it develop in the next book, Tate. The book has a good amount of suspense, and the twists went in directions I didn't expect but that felt authentic. This is such a fun ride, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series! 4-1/2 stars. Note: Fans of Warren's other series will be excited to find references to the Christiansens, Nobles, PEAK Rescue, and the Jude County Hotshots! Knox Marshall is the guy who keeps his promises. The promise he made to his father led him to save their family ranch. And, after an explosion at a national bull riding expo in San Antonio, the promise to keep Kelsey Jones safe. But Kelsey isn’t one to trust readily and she has good reason to be looking over her shoulder. Readers of the Montana Fire series will recall the character Reuben Marshall comes from a Montana ranching family. Knox is his younger brother. While it appeared to his brother that Knox was given all he ever dreamed of, the truth is deeper than that. Knox has looked out for their mother and worked hard to save the ranch, all the while never seeking his own dreams for his life. Kelsey makes it clear she wants nothing to do with Knox, but when her bandmate hires Knox’s brother, Tate, for security, there’s one safe place Tate knows to go when trouble seems to follow the band. Back to the Marshall ranch in Montana. That decision takes Kelsey Jones straight back into Knox’s world. But who’s actually in danger and why becomes a bit of a mystery as the plot unfolds. Susan May Warren delivers with the breathtaking excitement and adventure her novels are known for. Long-time readers will appreciate the appearances of several characters they recognize from previous series, including Rafe Noble, Gilly Priest, Rueben Marshall, and Ben King. Warren’s craft delivers these characters in a natural way that never feels contrived or forced. They’re not gratuitous cameos. The characters and plot are compelling and the spiritual journeys are relatable. The final pages leave the reader ready to dive into book 2, “Tate,” to be released later in 2019. I received an advance reader copy of this book. This review is my honest and true opinion.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sat down after Sunday dinner and read till I finished. It was that good !I love the Marshal family already. This is going to be a great series. The family dynamics are interesting. Kelsey and her two band mates add an interesting layer of intrigue. The ground work has been laid for solving two more predicaments. Love their mother who bestows her own style of love and wisdom to every person she encounters. This book has it all: mystery, suspense, inspiration, and roman I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I think there are to be five books in this series and all five books will be published in 2019. The next book in the series is Tate. It will be released in July. This series looks like it will need to be read in order, so if you don't like to wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens next, don't get this one yet. There is a pretty big cliff hanger at the end. I'm just forewarning you. It didn't bother me, obviously....I love Susan May Warren's books and had been seeing the blurb about this book for a while now and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I'll include a link to Knox at the end of the review to make it convenient for you to check it out, I hope you do. Let me know what you think of this book.

If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. As with all of Susan May Warren's books that I have read, this struck every emotional cord. Kelsey Jones was a young woman that experienced tremendous tragedy in her life and the fear and pain still gripped her soul. Her physical wounds had healed, but not her emotional ones. She didn't feel safe and didn't know if she ever would again. Kelsey was part of the Yankee Belles singing, along with her friends, Glo and Dixie and they loved country music. Knox Marshall was tall, dark and handsome, with killer blue eyes and he was a protector. He had given up what he wanted most to promise his dad he would do as he asked so he had given up a promising career of bull-riding and returned home to their Montana Ranch to keep it running. When Knox first met Kelsey there was something that made him want to protect her and keep her safe. Kelsey felt it too, but couldn't get close to any man. She didn't know if she would ever be able to trust a man ever again. As danger closed in on the Yankee Belles, Knox and his brother, Tate, were determined to keep everyone safe and find those behind the incidents that just didn't add up to coincidence. Was it possible for these wounded souls to find comfort and peace . . . and love?

Is there anything in the world Susan May Warren can't write about? It's a given that when you pick up one of her books you're in for a literary treat! I'm not sure whether I stared more at the cover or read! (chuckle) My only disappointment in the book was the conclusion—where all the loose ends are not tied up with a neat little bow—but obviously making way for the 2nd book entitled 'Tate'. A great beginning of another exciting series by Susan May Warren!
