…”Oh what fun it is to…” read a heartwarming and witty tale of a cowboy with an overabundance of Christmas spirit determined to get the woman of his dreams to say, “I do.” Okay, so maybe Joaquin Solas is going to be extra good to even get Savannah Wilson to give him the time of day, but their sizzling sexual attraction is undeniable. She just has other things on her mind and refuses to be sidetracked by the cowboy who believes in the magic of Christmas. Joaquin is a quirky, sexy character on a mission. The tale that unfolds had sexy chemistry, snark, delicious banter and plenty of mistletoe. It also had a slight mystery as Savannah and Joaquin work together to save Maisy’s bookstore. I loved the thread about the bestselling author and Joaquin’s family story, particularly his sister just tugged at my heart-strings, and brought on all the feels. Jenn McKinlay returns with a holiday-themed novel in the Happily Ever After series. Since this is a fairly new series, I still think I’m warming up to the world and characters. That being said, it took me a while to really get into Joaquin and Savannah’s characters. McKinlay’s writing in this series tends to be quite light, which ideally would make it easy for me. However, something about the beginning of the story was lacking for me and it took me a little bit to finish it. As a reader of many years, I like to see the different writing styles that an author can have and I definitely think that McKinlay is one of those versatile writers who is able to switch up her tone really well. I like the fact that her series don’t have a similar feel to them and they are very different from one another, so I’m looking forward to trying out more books in the series. I hope that they will grow on me more.

The Christmas Keeper is wonderful book to fill you with some sizzling holiday joy. Joaquin Solis knew Savannah Wilson was the one for him, now he just has to convince her. I can always count on Jenn McKinlay for moments of humor, whether it's in her mysteries, her romances, or, in real life. The Christmas Keeper is just what I enjoy in a contemporary romance. It involves kind people with a sense of humor. It doesn't hurt that it's set between Thanksgiving and Christmas. And, it certainly doesn't hurt that, as A Happily Ever After Romance, the Happily Ever After bookstore in Fairdale, North Carolina is part of the story. After Savannah Wilson loses her job in I can always count on Jenn McKinlay for moments of humor, whether it's in her mysteries, her romances, or, in real life. And, it certainly doesn't hurt that, as A Happily Ever After Romance, the Happily Ever After bookstore in Fairdale, North Carolina is part of the story. After Savannah Wilson loses her job in publishing, she launches a publicity campaign for her friend Maisy's romance bookstore. Savannah sees it as a means to help Maisy and find a way back to Manhattan by making a splash. She's made a splash with Joaquin (Quino) Solis, though. He'd be quite happy if the redhead decided to stay in Fairdale. In fact, he told his best friend that he'd be married to Savannah by Christmas. However, when he learns her plans and her dream of a publicity job back in New York, he's willing to help her save the bookstore, attain her dream job, and leave him behind. But, Quino is a pretty special man. He lost his parents in a car accident ten years earlier, an accident that left his sister, Desiree, with some brain trauma. He's worked for ten years on their family ranch to give her a life and freedom. So, he's shocked when she makes a radical life change just before Christmas. Christmas means so much to him and Desiree. He can't believe she's ready to take on her own life and responsibilities, and leave him behind at Christmas. This is a sexy romance, a love story between two needy, lonely people. But, as in all romances, there's conflict. Which one loves the other enough to give up the love and passion they share to allow the other person to have their dreams? It appears Quino will do anything to help Savannah return to New York. Does Savannah understand Quino's love of home and family, the importance of both after he lost his parents? Looking for a contemporary Christmas romance? How about one with a sexy rancher with a sense of humor who loves mistletoe and Christmas? Jenn McKinlay's The Christmas Keeper is just that, a keeper.

The Christmas Keeper by Jenn McKinlay is a festive read that will get you into the Christmas spirit. This contemporary romance is both sweet and spicy. The main male character is a Christmas-loving cowboy who stops at nothing to get the woman of his dreams. Jenn McKinlay gets an A+ for writing a sweet, well-paced romance. I didn’t think this author could top the first book in this series, but she has done it! This is a feel good story that I recommend and will reread during the holiday season. *I The Christmas Keeper by Jenn McKinlay is a festive read that will get you into the Christmas spirit. Joaquin/Quino jumps at the chance to help Savannah/Savy find ways to bring in customers to the bookshop and hopefully she’ll see him and his finer points. Savy is attracted to him but knows she’s here temporarily and it can’t go anything further than friendship. What she hadn’t expected was the slow seduction and charm he showed her in mistletoe kisses, ice skating, and his over the top Christmas decorations and ugly sweaters. What an absolutely delightful story! I thoroughly enjoyed the journey she took me on. It flowed well and the new and old characters helped the story move forward effortlessly. Quino was very charming and lovable. I don’t think Savy had a chance to NOT fall in love with him. Savy just couldn’t resist and wanted the chance to live in the moment and enjoy. Quino learned the hard way that change can be a good thing and that family stays with you no matter where you are. This story hit home and touched my heart with all the good things I love about the holidays and family. Jennifer's 4 star Review This story was so much fun! I really like Joaquin and Savannah. The holiday background and his love for everything about the season makes it a wonderful read. Savannah is helping out to make her best friends bookstore a huge success with her end goal being getting her job and life in New York City. Joaquin will do anything to convince Savannah that they are meant to be together. Working together to make the bookstore the place to shop, Savannah starts to weaken under Joaquin’s constant presence. The back back and forth between these two is sexy and hilarious. I enjoyed the build up and release of their attraction. The secondary characters are just as much fun as the main couple! Review copies provided for voluntary reviews.

The Christmas Keeper is a swoon-worthy holiday romance about a Christmas-obsessed cowboy trying to convince a 'city girl' that he is a keeper. She is confident, assertive, and isn't focused on finding love. She is the first woman to turn down Quino, which is a shock to him and is focused on saving her friend's bookstore and her reputation in the publicity game. As Quino and Savannah start to spend more time together, Savannah's wall she put up starts to come down. She is sharing things she hasn't shared with anyone in a long time. Quino is amping up the charm which is irresistible at this point. They can't deny their attraction any longer and agree to have a fling knowing that Savannah plans to leave Shadow Pine soon. Their relationship blossoms and is so captivating. I would definitely love to see this book come to life. Hallmark, do your thing and make it happen 😉. I give The Christmas Keeper 4 stars. It's a holiday romance with an unexpected romance that was even more enjoyable because of the Christmas magic!

Definitely good ... 3.5 stars I wish that the rating system allowed me to differentiate more. This story was cute, Christmasy, and surprising. I love that Jenn weaves fun into her stories and also actual causes important to her heart. Quinn was a great character to read because he was allowing the past to dictate his future. He also was dedicated to Savy from the beginning.

I enjoyed this romance. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4.5* rating. Just a little bit too much sexual content for my preference and not for the under 18 readers. There is a bit of action and lots of emotion. Might want to keep the tissues handy. Deals with several issues like loosing love ones and letting go of those close to you. A nice read with a bit of steam.

This story is a sequel to the first book in the “Happily Ever After” series, and while enjoyable, was not as humorous as book 1. This story obviously takes place at Christmas. While the author’s Ugly Christmas Sweater theme was funny the first time, it became less so with each repetition. Maisy features prominently, here, though not the main character. Ryder and Perry feature even less prominently. Ryder’s brother makes a surprise appearance at the holiday dinner table. But Quino (short for Joaquin), who was only briefly mentioned at the end of book 1, is the main character here. Quino’s younger sister Desi (short for Desiree) is new to the story. She is 25 years old, hardly a teen like Perry, but suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) ten years earlier, so she is not a typical 25-year-old, either. Both parents died in the same car accident, so she and Quino are the only family members left. Quino is her legal guardian and takes his responsibilities seriously. He not only inherited her care, but also the family business, the horse farm. Desi has decided that what she want in life is to work with rescue elephants in Africa, but the way she handles her trip is far from adult-like. she doesn’t share that with Quino until afterward. Quino reacts like a ton of bricks—overbearing, making a snap judgment, not really listening to her and not thinking things through. He’s acting more like a warden than a brother, and she resents it, even though she knows he means well. Never having experienced a TBI, nor ever having known someone who had, I can’t speak with any authority on the subject. But my first reaction was to side with Quino because a TBI is a serious injury, and who wouldn’t err on the side of caution? Who wouldn’t be beside themselves if the injured sib just up and left without a word? Hardly the action of a responsible adult. We aren’t told until later that Desi has been seeing a doctor, and Quino goes to see her to discuss Desi’s progress. Something he could probably have done sooner, but then there is doctor-patient confidentiality. This doctor seems to me to be a bit lackadaisical about Desi heading overseas for the first time, especially about her not telling anyone. Did the doctor know her trip was imminent? Didn't she ask Desi if she’d told Quino? In a guardian-ward situation, isn’t there some sort of legal or at least moral obligation to tell the guardian? Sure, Desi deserves her independence if she knows what she is doing, but traveling alone halfway around the globe for the first time is hardly the same as driving to the mall in Asheville, which is where she told Quino she was going. When she didn’t come back that night, who wouldn’t panic? Sounds to me like she behaved rather irresponsibly. Texting the ranch hands “Take care of Quino” is hardly sufficient. Any mature adult would be worried if their brain-injured sib just disappeared without saying where they went, or for how long, etc. I’d definitely be panicking. So that part of the story strained credibility. Savy (short for Savannah) is the main female character. She has a sad family history, too, though not at all like Quino’s, who at least had loving parents and a happy family. Savy’s parents are alive but could care less about her. Quino is a nurturer and loves family, so he’s a tonic for Savy’s starved soul—plus easy on the eyes, as we’re told on numerous occasions. He is a definite “keeper” because he’s such a good guy. As in book 1, this book features an animal (or several, in this case) that serve to comfort or entertain their humans. Here, it’s not a cuddly kitten, but a cantankerous old mare with a ‘tude. There is another new character that meshes well with the main story. There is a fair bit of psychologizing here as in book 1, though perhaps it’s less overt here. The characters are all human: they make mistakes, learn their lessons, apologize, are forgiven, then reunite. There are a few scenes of premarital sex if that is an issue for some, but the scenes are tastefully written, and not in detail. This is a mainstream romance novel with multiple happy endings—which does strain credulity but i knew that before starting. it’s a romance novel first and foremost. The characters are unique yet human, the pace is even, and the ending satisfying. The plot is sufficiently dramatic, but hardly intricate. This is a feel-good, fast read, hardly challenging, but still entertaining.

This sweet romance is set at Christmas time with Savannah helping her friend Maisy still working on getting her book store “Happily Ever After” off the ground. Savannah is not in a very Christmas-y mood. She hates Christmas to begin with. And her sudden career crash hasn’t helped things. She is still devising ways to get back at the executive who ruined her wonderful career in New York publishing, and who can blame her? It’s hard to turn the other cheek when you are publicly humiliated, robbed and then canned. But Savannah has time. She has gone back to Fairdale, North Carolina to help her best friend Maisy get this book store off the ground and make it a rousing success. There is just one fly in this ointment. Well one Fly Guy. Enter Quino, aka Joaquin. Handsome, built, kind, compassionate, loves kids, his younger sister, truly cares for the people in his life and loves Christmas. He’s perfect. He’s the kind of guy other women would feel blessed just to have him say hello to them. Not Savannah. She sees him as an impediment to getting back to New York and civilization. He sees her as his future wife. She can’t NOT think about him when he’s within kissing, uh, I mean spitting distance. He thinks about her all the time. What can go wrong? Or better yet, what can’t go right? This was a lovely Christmas romance. It will make you want to pull out the tree, the lights, the Bing Crosby and Harry Connick, Jr. albums, the tinsel and sugar cookies. The secondary characters are wonderful and none are a waste of space. They add to the atmosphere, and Savannah and Quino would not be who they are without them. You will not need tissues (okay, not many) and you will find yourself laughing out loud a time or three. When was the last time a romance novel did that for you? I only gave it four flames instead of five because the book is so sweetly written that the intimate scenes seem a bit, well, explicit when I got to them, but that is me and I am old fashioned. I am sure others will think I am being old fashioned when they read them. If you are looking for a read to get you in the Christmas Spirit, this is it. And when you buy it, buy a second one for that Secret Sister on your list and drop it on her desk. She will love you for it. Enjoy! Thank you @netgalley for the review copy of this book. All opinions are my own. This was such a fantastic addition to the Happily Ever After series. I adored the first book, The Good Ones, but the characters in this story immediately stole my heart. Savannah is such a spitfire. It’s no surprise that it was going to take a very special man to rope her into a romance and boy did she snag a good one. Quino might have just made his way to the top of my all time favorite male leads. A kind, Thank you @netgalley for the review copy of this book. All opinions are my own. Quino might have just made his way to the top of my all time favorite male leads. A kind, thoughtful, charming guy who is great with kids, operates a horse farm and is utterly obsessed with Christmas. Oh my goodness, wait until you see the extremes this guy goes to in order the celebrate the festive season. His hideous Christmas sweaters cracked me up and his use of mistletoe made me swoon. Did I mention he’s quite handsome too? As in a local romance writer, modeled the cover of her well known book after him and his horse! Trust me, it’s utter perfection. The chemistry and banter between Savannah and Quino was extremely entertaining and kept me flying through the pages to get to more of their interactions. With all of the flirtations, humor and sweet romance, the characters had a lot of depth. Both are struggling with overcoming their past. Savannah has never felt included with or supported by her family. The holidays are extra tough because she has no amazing memories of the season to fall back on. I enjoyed watching her slowly open up to the holiday and find what brings her joy once again. Quino gave up everything to move back home and become his sister’s caretaker after his parents were killed in a accident. He’s learning that life needs to be celebrated. It does continue to go on and change is difficult, but good. He also learns the hard way to let his sister go so she can fulfill her own dreams. I also enjoyed the side story with the romance novelist who has been a recluse for many years. It was fun seeing the same cast from the first book. Maisy, Perry, Ryder and of course King George made several appearances. Fingers crossed the series continues!!! Looks like there could be at least two more romances to watch unfold - Hannah / Sawyer and Lanie / Luke. Can’t recommend this light, romance series enough. Both books would be so fun to see made into movies.

The Christmas Keeper by Jenn McKinlay is the 2nd book in her Happily Ever After series. This was a fun sweet Christmas spirited romance, with a great couple and wonderful secondary characters, many of whom we met in the previous book. Savannah (Savy) Wilson, our heroine, is helping her best friend Maisy (previous book heroine) with her new bookstore. Savy lost her publicity job in New York, and is pining to return to the city she loves. Savy lost her publicity job in New York, and is pining to return to the city she loves. While enjoying her reading, working with her friends; Savy tries to avoid the looks given her by the handsome hunky cowboy, Joaquin. Joaquin (Quino) Solis, our hero, is known by his friends as a womanizer, but the woman he desires the most, totally ignores him. He can’t understand why Savy isn’t attracted to him, and does every thing to try to win her over. Though when both discover that Maisy might have issues with money, they begin to work together to find ways to help. In a short time, Savy gives in to the sizzling chemistry between her and Quino, and a friendship with benefits begins, with both knowing that Savy will eventually return to New York Savy was a wonderful heroine, who was fun, smart, and independent. Quino was also a great hero, who was not only loyal and caring to his younger sister, but was determined to win Savy. I thought that McKinlay gives us a great group of recurring characters, especially the wonderful women such as Savy, Maisy, Jeri, Hannah. What follows is a sweet fun story, with some emotional moments, as Quino’s fear for his sister Desi caused him to realize that he needed to get beyond his own issues from losing his parents. This was a nice element to the story. I also enjoyed the story line with the famous well known author, who was a recluse, but with Savy and Quino working with her, she too came out of her rut. Nicely done. Will Savy return to New York and leave Quino? The Christmas Keeper was a wonderful story, with a fabulous sexy couple, the backdrop of the romance bookstore and famous author, and great secondary characters. If you enjoy a sweet fun pure romance, you need to read this book written so very well by Jenn McKinlay. Barb The Reading Cafe

I love a good Christmas romance, so I found this to be a cute and enjoyable read. I listened to the audio version and did find it to be a bit long. At times, it seemed to drag, but for the most part, it was pretty good. The switching between Joaquin and Quino did confuse me at times. I found myself thinking "Wait, wasn't his name Joaquin?" Now that I type it, I see how Quino was just the last part of his name with the 'o' added - I guess that's one of those things that makes more sense when I love a good Christmas romance, so I found this to be a cute and enjoyable read. Now that I type it, I see how Quino was just the last part of his name with the 'o' added - I guess that's one of those things that makes more sense when you're reading it instead of listening. Joaquin is the hot cowboy who raised his sister after his parents were killed in a car accident. She suffered a TBI and he's pretty much been overprotective of her since then, even though she clearly can do things on her own now like an adult (although, I couldn't fault him too much when she disappears). He loves horses and runs a horse farm. Oh and he's obsessed with Christmas! Like, wear an ugly Christmas sweater every day leading up to the holiday type of obsession. It was honestly quite adorable. Savannah is only in town because she lost her PR job, so she's in NC helping her best friend with her new book store. She's desperate to get back to NYC and to her publishing career though, so while she's in NC working things there, she's also doing everything she can to fix her rep. Joaquin has wanted her since the moment she turned him down months ago, she just refuses to go out with him. Of course, she eventually breaks down and gives the poor guy a shot. They were perfect together. Savannah surprised me. She went from the haughty New-Yorker with one step out the door to the caring girlfriend who loves the town and is there for Quino when he needs her. And he does need her there at one point in the end when something heartbreaking happens. But then he screws up as most men do in these books and he has to win her back. The ending is super sweet and I was happy to see them get their HEA. I hope we have more from the series, perhaps with the brother and vet or even Quino's sister and the mysterious boss with a private jet.

Who could resist the most affable, sexy, practically perfect Santa? Not Savannah Wilson. That's for sure! Savy has her reasons to avoid Joaquin Solis. She knows that her attraction to him would be almost impossible to ignore. And keep her distance she must. She is determined to right the wrong done to her and get back to the job she loved in New York City. She can't let a guy, not Quino, not any guy, dilute her determination to return to the Big Apple. Joaquin Solis is firmly determined to win over Savy despite hr stubborn reluctance. Quino has never felt such a strong attraction to another woman. He just knows that if they spend enough time together he can change Savy's mind. Working together to help save Savy's best friend, Maisy Kelly's romance bookstore is the best chance Quino has to spend time with Savy and convince her to stay in Fairdale, NC. He is playing the long game - friendly attention, planning activities Savy will enjoy (as friends haha) and patience. Lots of patience. I don't know how Savy can resist. The Christmas Keeper by Jenn McKinlay is the second book in her Happily Ever After series. Once again the action takes place around the romance bookstore in Fairdale named Happily Ever After. There's also plenty of action at Joaquin's horse ranch. Both Savy and Quino are very strong characters. Ms. McKinlay has depicted them as very likeable people; people the reader would like to have as friends. They both have a great sense of humor. To help save the bookstore Quino dressed up as Santa and Savy as an elf. I laughed at all the silly elf names Quino came up with for Savy such as Snickerdoodle Jingle Bells and Mistletoe Merrybottom. Since Quino is such a Christmas fanatic the story is filled with lots of fun Christmas activities. I loved this about the book. A Christmas romance needs to have the Christmas spirit, glow and warm feelings of Christmas. Jenn McKinlay achieved this with a fun, yet heartwarming story.

Joaquin and Savannah’s love story in The Christmas Keeper by Jenn McKinlay, book two in her Happily Ever After series, was a wonderful, sexy, and enjoyable tale. Joaquin Solis fell in love with Savannah Wilson at first sight. He just knew she was going to be his wife; however, Savannah had a different plan in mind. Savannah was determined to leave their quaint town in North Carolina, get her former boss fired, be able to return to New York and her old job. Until that happens she will pretend the Joaquin and Savannah’s love story in The Christmas Keeper by Jenn McKinlay, book two in her Happily Ever After series, was a wonderful, sexy, and enjoyable tale. Savannah was determined to leave their quaint town in North Carolina, get her former boss fired, be able to return to New York and her old job. Until that happens she will pretend the scorching sexual chemistry between them isn’t happening. Joaquin is at a lost to find a way to convince Savannah to give them a chance. Savannah learns that Joaquin gives riding lessons to the one person who can help boost her career. Joaquin doesn’t hesitate to help her and invites her into his world at Shadow Pines and woos her with all of his Christmas loving power. It’s a gamble for him since if it works Savannah will most likely return to NYC. Joaquin believes in the magic of Christmas and he knows that with a little help from his friends at the Happily Ever After Bookstore, he just might be able to convince Savannah, the woman of his dreams, that he is the man for her. Not just the man for her but truly a keeper; a Christmas keeper and maybe the man she was in love with. Ms. McKinlay, a talented story teller, wrote a joyful, funny, tender sweet, and heartwarming tale that is not to be missed. She provided a tale rich with sexual chemistry, amusing banter, and amazing characters giving Joaquin and Savannah a chance to discover their happiness by finding love and a future together. I highly recommend The Christmas Keeper to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Savannah and Joaquin were likable characters from the first book already. He is a loyal friend to Ryder, hardworking, has some swagger, and of-course is drop dead gorgeous. Savannah is a loyal friend to Maisy and has been there for her every step of the way. She is not exactly in a good place in life right now but she still gives her all and her best to her friend. This unlikely couple does work, they are good for each other. I really don't have much else to say about it, it was a good holiday romance, just not one I will be reading again.
