A fantastic book. There is no book that can replace the truth of the Bible, and I am so grateful that this one doesn't even try. Written with real life experiences, grace-filled truth, and deep trust in the power of God to redeem us in the little everyday pains and joys of motherhood, this book is life-giving. It is rooted in God's word and his character, and filled with practical applications for the very real needs we face day in and day out. I am confident I will return to it many times in my years of mothering, and am eager to give this hope-filled book to fellow mommas.

A conversation about life, love, parenthood, and how your relationship with God fits into all of the above and more. Often times in motherhood, the journey can be lonely. The questions of “What is the purpose?” and “Will this never end?” are just a couple that cross through a busy mom’s mind as she is working day in and day out to take care of her family, frequently doing repetitive duties. Some of these awesome moms are also working outside the home and others are taking care of a loved one who is ill, in addition to mothering. I love this book because Emily and Laura help point us back to God through every instance mentioned in the book (our attitudes, our marriages, food, relationships, self care, schooling, and more). Each chapter points us back to the Gospel story of Adam and Eve, showing how the subject of each chapter relates to Creation, the Fall, and Redemption according to the Gospel. There have been so many moments in my 7 years of motherhood (a few of those years as a single mom) where I’ve just simply felt that I couldn’t go on, that I had no purpose, that there was no purpose in the repetitive every day motions I was going through, and often wondered, why bother? My child, that’s why bother. Raising my daughter to love and fear the Lord is the most important thing I’ve been put on this Earth to do. Risen Motherhood helps to point us back to that most important work. Showing how each moment of every day and every situation is God worthy and purposeful. I hope that every person who reads this book is filled with the hope that can only be found at the feet of Jesus. That every person who is at the end of their rope in parenting can have the peace that passes all understanding wash over them as they read this book and apply it to their individual needs and lives. That each weary soul will reach out for Jesus and cling to him as they start and complete each day of raising their kids while cleaning the house, working their job, caring for their ill family member, running errands, working the side hustle, or remembering to take a moment for themselves. We can be a Risen Motherhood through the grace of Christ Jesus.

I have listened faithfully to the Risen Motherhood podcast for the last two years, and it has been an incredible encouragement and resource in my life as a mom, and my life in general. This book delivers more of what the podcast does so well. It is faithful to Scripture and points readers to Christ by framing so many common issues in motherhood with the gospel. My excitement to read this book began the moment I heard about it. In a world filled with conflicting opinions and contradicting how-tos at every turn, the transcendent, everlasting truth of our Risen Lord is the only hope we have. Risen Motherhood shows us that hope.

This is a fantastic book! If you only read one book on mothering ever let it be this! It’s non judgmental and rooted firmly in scripture: you will learn not someone else’s views on parenting but how to use scripture to establish your own opinions and practices in mothering. You will laugh and cry along with Laura and Emily but most of all they will point you to Jesus and you will leave this book seeking more of Him.

Every chapter, every page is convicting and refreshing. You know why? because the gospel is in every chapter, saturated on every page. I read so many pages through tears, not because of anything but the reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness in all things. Didn’t know your birth story, laundry, or post partum body image (or every corner of your life every.day.) had to do with the gospel? Well, come be enlightened and refreshed. That’s what drew me in to the podcast in the first place a few years back. At the time I was learning that the gospel changes so much more than what I ever knew before and the podcast was a resource that helped me grow so much. I encourage every momma who loves and serves Jesus (or is intrigued by Him!) to take a read.

Emily and Laura write from their own hearts; their own experiences; and they write the truth from God. Even from page one, Risen Motherhood is full of truth and the truth can be hard to hear sometimes when it smacks us in the face with reality. But Risen Motherhood points us back to the gospel and Jesus. Every page is full of gospel truths that are refreshing and full of life. I was drawn to this book because I’m very new into motherhood. My lens into motherhood is tainted by the pressures to be “this” or “that” and if I’m neither, I’m not good enough. But Risen Motherhood reminds me that I am good enough. Emily and Laura focus so much on the gospel that you quickly can’t forget...and I don’t want to forget the gospel! Risen Motherhood has helped me focus on Biblical truths instead of the lies from the world. Through Risen Motherhood and the words of Emily and Laura, God has spoken to my heart as a mother and He is shaping me into the mother he has created me to be. If you are a mama who needs the “refreshing truth of the gospel”, please read this book. Highlight, underline, circle every word because it speaks truth to our hearts as moms and most importantly, it points us back to Jesus.

While not shying away from hard topics and confronting sin (I feel like every chapter had an element of conviction for me), the authors’ tone is so encouraging and provides moms with needed reminders of how the Gospel intersects with their daily struggles. The lessons and encouragement contained in this book are relatable and applicable to those in all walks of life - not just moms. As a young mom about to enter the world of "2 under 2," I NEEDED this book. Risen Motherhood is incredibly timely in a culture that consistently glorifies the messiness of motherhood. Everything from food selection to screen time to the friends I make (and keep) comes under scrutiny of the latest research and psychological studies. Sound familiar? Wow! The message of this book is so needed for moms today. Laura and Emily share a simple, back to the basics message, but they share it in a profound and inspiring way. They look at different issues moms face in light of Creation, the Fall, Redemption and Consummation. This book is so refreshing because it shares truth in an impactful way without fluffy, feel good motivational speeches that are included in most books marketed for women today. Personally, I was challenged to not be so discouraged through the day to day challenges of motherhood and instead constantly encourage myself through the truth of the Gospel. I have been letting the success of nap time or the attitude of my toddler dictate how I feel throughout the day. That just leaves me disappointed. I will refer to this book and the method they share again and again. I highly recommend all moms read this.

This book is so so so good! It is a fantastic read for any mother and cuts deeply (and quickly) into the heart of the struggles moms face. With every chapter, a struggle is discussed and moms are pointed to Christ and how a relationship with him changes everything. It takes baby steps to grow, to change, but there is so much beauty in walking through this life with Christ at the center. It's convicting, encouraging, inspiring, and easy to read. This is a great book for a mom to read alone in the midst of her busy day and also for group discussions among friends. I felt especially encouraged and empowered after reading the chapters on Marriage and on Mundane Moments. Emily & Laura do a really great job of communicating relationally and concisely making this an easy read any mom can pick up and dive in whenever she has a moment. I hope this book becomes a new staple for moms everywhere.

I would love to get this book into the hands of every woman I know. I have been a christian most of my life, but until the ministry of Risen Motherhood I had no idea how the gospel applied to every mundane, ordinary moment of my life- and oh how much richer and fuller it's truth is to me now! Though the authors are quick to warn that this is not a formula to find the perfect answer to every situation, the framework they offer to see issues through the lens of the gospel is refreshingly simple an I would love to get this book into the hands of every woman I know. This book alone does not have the power or authority to change your home, but Risen Motherhood will unfailingly point you to the One who holds ALL power and authority to radically alter your life from the inside out. To God all praise and glory!

As a biblical counselor and as a mom in community with other moms, I am always looking for resources that ground women deeply in the Gospel as they navigate everyday life. I was left thinking deeply at the end of each chapter, making connections about how the Gospel applies, how I can image God, and what sinful attitudes I need to be on guard against in my mothering. This is no typical parenting book of how-to strategies, but instead it equipped me to use whatever strategies I've prayerfully chosen with a Gospel-shaped mindset and lens. I wish someone had given me this book when I first started my motherhood journey so that I didn't waste time stuck in the practical "how-to's," forgetting about the bigger HEART "how-to's."

Have you ever wondered what God’s design for motherhood is supposed to look like? Emily&Laura have carefully searched scripture for what God’s design for motherhood was in the garden of Eden, how that design was abandoned after the fall of man, how it was redeemed through life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and how our hope will be forever restored to God’s perfect plan once more. These beautiful truths aren’t just things that stick to paper and are forgotten, but rather something we are to cling to as we live our ordinary, everyday moments of motherhood wherever we live, how we parent, and what season we’re in. This is not a how to book on parenting—it is a refreshing glimpse of how God truly has a design for our lives and we can live in a redeemed state. This is a must-read for any woman that is a mom, hopes to be a mom, or even knows a mom. We are in desperate need for a Risen Motherhood.

Risen Motherhood is such a refreshing, hope-filled book that points us back to the Gospel and how it can shape and form every facet of our life - not just motherhood. I have often felt that motherhood is really REALLY hard. I was first introduced to Risen Motherhood when a friend in my Church Mom’s group recommended their podcast. My spiritual journey has been a slow and somewhat uncomfortable one. Another way God has helped point me in the right direction.

I started listening to the Risen Motherhood podcast several years ago, and apart from my own Mom, these girls have had the biggest influence in how I parent. When I heard they were writing a book, I knew I wanted to get my hands on it and even pre-ordered (something I've never done before!) God has used their words to completely alter the way I view the ins and outs of motherhood, from the large issues--like training my children in the gospel or family transitions (adding another little!!)--to the smaller ones--like nap time or food choices. As Laura and Emily say over and over—“the gospel changes everything.” And it does! Jesus changes EVERYTHING. And he used Risen Motherhood to show me how.

I first became a mom 6 years ago and I wish someone had given me this book then! RM speaks truth to the practical daily realities of motherhood. This is not just a theology book. This is a book that bridges the gap between what we know is true about God and the Gospel and what we experience every day as mothers. The world gives us a thousand insufficient messages of encouragement. Risen Motherhood gives us the Gospel Truth.
