This book reminds me a little of the series with a little of thrown in. It's more fantasy than paranormal. Rylan and KarRa have been together since they were 6. Her love for him has matured to a more intimate love which he thinks is wrong and has been distancing himself and purposely hurting her to drive him away. When he finds out what he is and that she's his true soulmate, it may be too late. (view spoiler)[I liked Rylan but I kept thinking she would have been better off with Merk! The DRC of Alpha Within left me unbalanced, but I was intrigued enough to buy and read Wild Within. There's no doubt I like this more that its sequel. First, it's not pure erotica, there are only a couple of sex scenes and they were at the end of the book. On the other side, smut in this series sounds really weird, painful and weird. I'm not sure how you could really appreciate it, it's very near bestiality. (No judgement implied. To each one, their kink.) I liked the strong heroine, a survivalist at core. Literally. Unfortunately I'm not sure I love this dystopian fantasy world in which women are nothing much than chattel to be bartered and an uterus that breeds. They may be better treated with the Clans, but their value is still and foremost as baby-breeders. Even when the heroines (both here and in Alpha Within) are actually refusing to have children, I still feel this is the world they live in and that they represent a token. What I can safely say it's that the author is trying for originality. Unfortunately, it causes also some weird language usage. I've read the blurb of some of the other 7 books in the series. And I think I'll stop here. I've met the heroine of Book 2 and as I wanted to strangle her as a side character, I think it's a safe bet I'll not like a story focused on her.

An enjoyable read. You have to go into it knowing that this is meant to be an easy, quick read. At times I felt like I wasn't quite following a piece of dialogue well and would have to backtrack to understand what was intended, but that didn't derail the story. Mima built a fascinating world filled with strife and desperation and then one so completely the opposite that it was like vacay in Utopia. Because of that I felt it became a predictable book without a gut-wrenching climax (mentally, not physically). Whenever there was a moment that was meant to be detrimental to the plot or heroine, I felt as if the issue was glazed by, not really imprinting the point in my mind to be taken as seriously as it should have. Overall I enjoyed the book enough to finish it in one sitting and I am curious to read the following books later on. It felt good to allow myself a simple romance with some seriously hot beasts...Thanks Mima!

But he is getting sick as his beast is having trouble coming out and KarRa finally persuades him it is time to seek out the Truxet. Love this story as part of the whole saga.

What a gread little story! Mima continues to delight me with her writing. I am looking forward to reading this whole series! I connected with the characters, was drawn into the story, and most importantly, I was constantly fanning myself from the mass quantity of super steamy smut! This is a nice quick read.

So the H loved the h so much that he banged other women, lived with them, tried to make babies with them? And he tried to set the h up with other men? If this is this author's idea of romantic love then I want no part of it. DNF.

Very interesting world. There were some very exciting parts and some parts where it slowed. Overall I'm very interested in reading the next book and it comes HIGHLY recommended.

I felt like the author was trying too hard to be mystical. I couldn't get into it at all.
